Rainbowfish Vase

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has two displays of rainbowfishes of many different species. They're native to Australia and New Guinea.

Spring peeper (in progress)

It's a very small piece... about the size of a linden leaf.

1-gallon pitcher

 It's fairly large. I estimate it'll hold a gallon when finished.

 It's for the "Garden" show next May. Better give it a snake.

 The trick is to wait for the right moment to attach it.

 I'm worried about the eventual weight of the pitcher. It's 9 inches tall and a little over four pounds. When full of liquid, it could weigh 12 pounds or more.

 Attaching the foliage is like decorating a cake. Here's a view of each side.

Why is painting so difficult??

I've been painting on the same vase for, like, two weeks. You would think this would be easier by now. Time to pull back and do some throwing. Of more tableware for me to paint. Bah. At least it's brown clay: easier to glaze.
